Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onesti] Romania). She was the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 in an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics coach who would become Comaneci's coach in later years, discovered her at age six. The first time she competed was at the national junior championships which she was 13th place in the year 1969. In 1970, she took home the title. In 1972, in a meet of communist countries junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she took home three medals of gold. Then in 1973 and 1974, she became the overall junior champion. In her debut as a senior in the year 1975, she defeated Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva, the five-time European champion, winning four golds and a silver. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first woman to perform a backward double salto as an unmounting from uneven parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment business by performing in the form of a figure skater. Together with her younger brother Nina Wayne she was part of a traveling show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol started her career in the entertainment business in her teens. She began her professional career by performing figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister in one of the touring entertainment programs Ice Capades. The shows featured skaters who were accompanied by theatrical music.
